FTL TOP PICKS - OLIVIA-LOUISE
Olivia-Louise is a r&b singer from Chester, United Kingdom. We started listening to Olivia in 2015 after stumbling across her on SoundCloud. When we think of that summer, one of our favourite memories is just chilling out to some Olivia for hours on end.
When she first started she was creating some of the tracks herself and just getting them out there. We have always respected her drive and passion for the music. When you listen to artists it's nice to feel that energy vibrating through the track.
When it comes to out of London we feel it is hard for artists to blow. Unless you make one of those 'bangers' listeners aren't really checking for you. In a way it is as if you need a London Co-Sign in order to for the the rest of the country to take you in. You may disagree, but that is just our opinion.
So that is another reason why we have always loved Olivia and her music. She isn't too fussed about making sure she has that radio ready track she would rather make tracks that she likes. Artist control is important.
Her r&b is raw and heart-felt story telling with a confident sexy flare. She has a unique angelic voice that hits weird notes and tones. We LOVE a diverse scene, because you come to appreciate artists for their differences and uniqueness.
Over the years she has worked with various producers. When she was first coming up she worked heavily with Moteleola, those are probably some of our favourite tracks of hers. They just worked so well together, he got her vibe and that translated through the beats and harmonies.
Olivia recently recently released a 9 track tape entitled 'Outernet' which we will be doing a review on soon. But even still, check it out! (We will leave a link below) Great all-round piece, polished but still that raw Olivia we love.
